Arthur Fils practised in Cincinnati, but did not compete in the tournament. He has now withdrawn from the US Open.

Arthur Fils<\/a> has withdrawn from the US Open<\/a>, where he reached the second round last year, due to injury. The Frenchman returned from a stress fracture in his back in Toronto, but has not competed since.<\/p>\n

“After an injury that kept me away from the court, a warning sign felt during my comeback \u2014 first in Toronto, then in Cincinnati \u2014 led me to make the difficult but reasonable decision to withdraw from the US Open<\/a>,” Fils wrote on Instagram Stories. This decision was made to allow for a full recovery.<\/p>\n

“I’m working hard every day with my team to come back strong and be ready for this end of season. Thank you for all your support.”<\/p>\n

The 21-year-old withdrew before his third-round match at Roland Garros<\/a> and did not play again until Canada’s ATP Masters 1000 event at the end of July. Fils defeated former Top 10 player Pablo Carreno Busta<\/a> there before falling to Jiri Lehecka<\/a> in three sets.<\/p>\n

The No. 20 player in the PIF ATP Rankings was in the Cincinnati Open<\/a> draw and was on site training, but withdrew due to the same injury.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Fils owns a 22-11 record this season, according to the Infosys ATP Win\/Loss Index, and reached a career-high World No. 14 in April.<\/p>\n
