Bryan Sherrer, an experienced coach at many levels, has joined the Morehead State men\u2019s basketball staff with head coach\u00a0Jonathan Mattox.<\/p>\n

Sherrer heads to MSU from another MSU \u2013 Murray State. He served as assistant coach there in 2024-25 after first being in the role of graduate assistant at Murray State from 2011-14. He has also had a lengthy stint on the staff at Three Rivers (Mo.) College and coached at Arkansas-Pine Bluff as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re really excited to welcome Coach Sherrer to our staff,\u201d said Mattox. \u201cI\u2019ve known him for a long time going back to his time as a graduate assistant at Murray State and my time as a graduate assistant here. Coach Sherrer has been a part of several championship teams, and coached some high level players. \u00a0He and I share a lot of the some values, and I know his influence on our student-athletes will be tremendous.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prior to his second go-around at Murray last winter, he was at Arkansas-Pine Bluff from 2021-24 as associate head coach.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Before APB, Sherrer was at Three Rivers from 2014-21, a place he also spent time at as a student and student-athlete. There, he recruited 37 players who advanced\u00a0to play at four-year programs, including 19 that played at the Division I\u00a0level and five NJCAA All-America players.<\/p>\n

In his time as a graduate assistant at Murray, he was\u00a0part of the 2011-12 team that was the final undefeated team in the nation at 23-0 \u2013 a team that broke into the top 10 nationally. He worked\u00a0with NBA Draft selections Isaiah Canaan, in his senior season, and the freshman season of Cameron Payne. The Racers were 75-23 in Sherrer\u2019s three seasons on the bench.<\/p>\n

His playing career began at Three Rivers, where he was NJCAA Region 16 Player of the Year and was NJCAA All-America. He transferred to South Alabama where he was team captain from 2008-10. In 2009-10, Sherrer\u00a0finished\u00a0eighth in the nation in free throw percentage at 90.1.<\/p>\n
