{"id":9666,"date":"2025-07-14T18:08:03","date_gmt":"2025-07-14T18:08:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/9666\/"},"modified":"2025-07-14T18:08:03","modified_gmt":"2025-07-14T18:08:03","slug":"official-millwall-sign-zak-sturge-from-chelsea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/9666\/","title":{"rendered":"Official: Millwall sign Zak Sturge from Chelsea"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"z3ehDE\">Chelsea youngster Zak Sturge spent the second half of last season on loan at Millwall, and he\u2019s now returned to them not just for the full season coming up, but for the many seasons ahead after that as he\u2019s signed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.millwallfc.co.uk\/news\/2025\/july\/14\/millwall-confirm-zak-sturge-signing\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201clong-term\u201d contract<\/a> with the Championship outfit.<\/p>\n<p id=\"rdnMoZ\">Strangely, the exact length of the contract has not been disclosed by Millwall.  Less strangely, they also did not confirm how much they\u2019re paying in terms of a transfer fee.<\/p>\n<p id=\"1O5WhY\">Sturge joined Chelsea from Brighton &amp; Hove Albion back in 2022, for what turned out to be a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/5305635\/2024\/02\/28\/chelsea-brighton-compensation-shumaira-mheuka-zak-sturge\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">tribunal-set<\/a> \u00a3900k (plus potential add-ons to take that up to \u00a33.4, which surely have not been met).  Brighton retained a 20 per cent sell-on as well, so they will want to know the final numbers in this transfer, too.<\/p>\n<p id=\"lzr3H9\">The 21-year-old left back made just five appearances for Millwall last season, backing up the veteran Joe Bryan, but they must\u2019ve liked what they saw.<\/p>\n<p id=\"nNpt3O\">\u201cAfter three years [at Chelsea FC] it\u2019s time for me to say goodbye.
