Tom Sandoval<\/a> and his band, The Most Extras, made it to the quarterfinals of America\u2019s Got Talent<\/a> after an audition that impressed all four judges<\/a>; however, they weren\u2019t able to match that success on Tuesday\u2019s (August 19) first live show of Season 20.<\/p>\n

The controversial Vanderpump Rules<\/a> alum took to the stage on Tuesday\u2019s show to perform a rendition of \u201cBlinding Lights\u201d by The Weeknd. While judges Sofia Vergara<\/a>, Howie Mandel<\/a>, and Mel B<\/a> all seemed to be having a good time, fellow judge Simon Cowell<\/a> wasn\u2019t feeling it.<\/p>\n

After hitting his red buzzer halfway through the performance, Cowell told Sandoval, \u201cIt didn\u2019t sound great\u2026 It might just be me, from where I sat, but that did not sound good, I\u2019m afraid. It didn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sandoval defended himself, explaining, \u201cRight before I went on, my in-ears kinda went out, so I was flying in the dark there.\u201d<\/p>\n

After Mel B called him out for making excuses, the infamous reality star said he \u201cwasn\u2019t,\u201d adding that he \u201chad a blast\u201d regardless.<\/p>\n

Vergara agreed with Cowell\u2019s assessment, noting that while she \u201cloved the dancing, loved the band, loved the song,\u201d she thought \u201cthe sound was not amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mel B was more positive, praising Sandoval\u2019s stage presence, and telling him, \u201cYou know what, yeah, you\u2019re a cover band but you know what, you just bring a little bit of happiness and the way that you commit is flawless. Those moves, brother, they\u2019re lit.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mandel offered compliments too, saying that people watching at home will soon be requesting Sandoval and his band to play at their \u201cweddings, their parties, their clubs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sandoval and the Most Extras previously wowed the judges with an energetic performance of A-Ha\u2019s \u201cTake On Me\u201d during the June 24 audition round. The Traitors star previously spoke with E! News<\/a> about the thought process behind picking that particular song.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was a tough one because we have a lot of songs that we play,\u201d he told the outlet. \u201cA-ha\u2019s \u2018Take on me\u2019 is a song growing up, I always loved the music video. I never thought I would ever be able to sing that song or hit those notes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Noting that he trained with vocal coaches, Sandoval added, \u201cI\u2019m able to sing now and it\u2019s been just such a great feeling being able to have a sense of accomplishment being able to perform the song.\u201d<\/p>\n
