\n\tIn recent weeks, California Governor Gavin Newsom<\/a> has given his press office free rein to go full all-caps troll mode on X. Almost all of the account\u2019s posts right now are mimicking Donald Trump<\/a>\u2019s distinct tweeting style, replete with condescending nicknames, weirdly formal phrasing, and multiple-exclamation-point bluster. On Monday, the account even went so far as to gin up a phony picture of avowed Trump supporter Kid Rock<\/a> dressed as Uncle Sam with the slogan, \u201cKid Rock<\/a> wants you to support Gavin Newsom.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tAccompanying the post was a mocking message from the governor: \u201cI ACCEPT! \u2014 GCN.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tLike many in the MAGA world who\u2019ve been completely befuddled<\/a> by the Newsom press office\u2019s tweeting, Kid Rock took the bait and fired back: \u201cThe only support Gavin Newscum will ever get out of me is from DEEZ NUTZ.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tIt\u2019s a response that, to say the least, absolutely reeks of \u201cand another thing<\/a>: im not mad. please dont put in the newspaper that i got mad.\u201d And Newsom\u2019s press office was happy to run with the engagement. A follow-up post yesterday read<\/a>: \u201cI HATE KID ROCK !!! \u2014 GCN.\u201d And after that came another distinctly Trump-ian post<\/a>, \u2018HAS ANYONE NOTICED THAT SINCE I SAID \u2018I HATE KID ROCK\u2019 HE\u2019S NO LONGER \u2018HOT?\u2019 \u2014 GCN.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tIf, by chance, this whole absurd exchange is giving you a deranged sense of d\u00e9j\u00e0 vu, don\u2019t worry: You\u2019re not going insane (at least no more than we all are, in general).
