Victoria Mboko will look to continue her meteoric rise when the US Open starts on August 24.<\/p>\n

The 18-year-old stunned her opponents at the Canadian Open<\/a>, defeating four Grand Slam champions on her way to a first WTA Tour title<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Mboko<\/a>, who was ranked 85th in the world during the Canadian Open, defeated Sofia Kenin, Coco Gauff<\/a>, Elena Rybakina and Naomi Osaka on her way to winning the title.<\/p>\n

Her attention will now turn to the final major in the calendar, and there can be little doubt that the young Canadian is a serious threat for the US Open title<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Mboko, now ranked 24 in the world, recently discussed her \u2018new experience\u2019 of entering the US Open main draw directly.<\/p>\n

Victoria Mboko says being seeded for the US Open is \u2018insane to think about\u2019<\/p>\n

Mboko recently appeared on the \u2018Served with Andy Roddick\u2019 podcast, where she described the insanity of being a seeded player at the US Open.<\/p>\n

It is easy to understand her feelings regarding this matter. After all, Mboko was ranked 333 in the world at the start of 2025.<\/p>\n

Mboko has won 52 matches this year and lost only nine. <\/p>\n

Speaking to 2003 US Open champion Andy Roddick<\/a>, Mboko said: \u201cThis is such a new experience for me. <\/p>\n

\u201cHonestly, if you\u2019d told me a year ago I was going to be direct acceptance into the main draw of the US Open, I would have told you you\u2019re crazy.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut yeah, I\u2019m super excited for it. I think I\u2019ll even be seeded, which is insane to think about.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course it\u2019s a different approach, because you already know that you\u2019re in the draw so you have a more clear schedule of what things are going to look like this week. So yeah, I\u2019m heading to New York on Tuesday and I think I have a lot more time to prepare as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m really excited first of all. I want to have as much fun as possible, and it\u2019s my first time also playing the main draw in the US Open on the WTA Tour, so that\u2019s a really new experience for me.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo I think along the way I\u2019m just going to ease into it. It\u2019s a really great opportunity so I just want to capitalise as much as I can and honestly just have as much fun as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mboko is seeded 22nd for the US Open<\/p>\n

Mboko, ranked 24 in the world, will be seeded 22nd for the US Open Ladies Singles draw.<\/p>\n

This is because two players ranked higher than Mboko, Paula Badosa and Qinwen Zheng have been forced to withdraw from the tournament due to injury.<\/p>\n

As a result, Mboko is likely to receive a more favourable draw than originally expected when the US Open draws are released on Thursday.<\/p>\n
