{"id":9808,"date":"2025-07-14T19:24:03","date_gmt":"2025-07-14T19:24:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/9808\/"},"modified":"2025-07-14T19:24:03","modified_gmt":"2025-07-14T19:24:03","slug":"google-melding-chrome-os-and-android-into-one-platform","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/9808\/","title":{"rendered":"Google Melding Chrome OS and Android Into One Platform"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.techradar.com\/phones\/android\/i-think-you-see-the-future-first-on-android-googles-android-leader-sameer-samat\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">conversation<\/a>\u00a0with TechRadar published Friday (July 11),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/sameersamat\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Sameer Samat<\/a>, president of the Android Ecosystem at Google, asked reporter Lance Ulanoff why he was using a MacBook Pro, Apple Watch and iPhone to understand about the apps he uses to manage these devices.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI asked because we\u2019re going to be combining ChromeOS and Android into a single platform, and I am very interested in how people are using their laptops these days and what they\u2019re getting done,\u201d Samat said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The report notes that this has been a big year for Android, with the ecosystem recently unveiling its Android 16, which Samat says was the platform\u2019s \u201cbiggest design change in Android in three or four years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As PYMNTS wrote in May, the phone\u2019s update includes a design called Material 3 Expressive, phones and watches using Google\u2019s operating system will be \u201cmore fluid, personal and glanceable,\u201d as Mindy Brooks, vice president of product management and user experiences, Android platform, wrote in a company blog post.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, the Tech Radar report discussed the combination of Android phones with Google\u2019s Gemini artificial intelligence (AI) model.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Calling it \u201cthat Gemini Experience,\u201d Samat says users who switch from other phones are \u201cseeing over and over again what they\u2019ve been missing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He demonstrated how Gemini could both summarize a long YouTube video and break down its claims (with time stamps) by using in sources from the Web, something Tech Radar described as Gemini \u201cleaning into its Google search roots.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWhat I\u2019m getting at,\u201d Samat said, \u201cis that Gemini integrated in a phone really provides a much more helpful experience. And when consumers do move over from an iPhone, they instantly realize that they\u2019ve been missing a lot of this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PYMNTS looked at the state of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/news\/artificial-intelligence\/2025\/is-google-new-yahoo-ai-driven-future\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">AI-powered search<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 as well as the possible future of Google \u2014 in a recent interview with Adam Behrens, CEO of retail AI tech startup\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.new-gen.ai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">New Generation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He argued that in five years, Google won\u2019t be \u201ca list of links,\u201d but \u201ca service where you get answers, then actions, which changes how people shop and what they expect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe traditional ad model starts to break down because there\u2019s less screen space and fewer choices; you either show up ready to be picked, or you\u2019re invisible,\u201d Behrens added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cFor brands, it means they can\u2019t just live behind a website anymore.
