UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. \u2014 A team of electrical engineering researchers from the Penn State School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science received a Best Paper Award at the 2025 Association for Computing Machinery\u2019s Great Lakes Symposium on <\/a>Very Large Scale Integration (GLSVLSI), one of the premier conferences in the field of integrated circuit and system design.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Selected as the top submission from a pool of 183 full papers, the paper focuses on the security of quantum computing systems. Subrata Das, a graduate student in electrical engineering, served as the first author, while her adviser, Swaroop Ghosh<\/a>, professor of electrical engineering and computer science, served as a co-author.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI am happy that our paper won the Best Paper Award at GLSVLSI 2025,\u201d Ghosh said. \u201cThis recognition is particularly special as it marks the second year in a row that we\u2019ve received this award at the same conference.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

The recognition at GLSVLSI is the second time a paper from Ghosh\u2019s group has received the Best Paper Award this year. Earlier in 2025, he received the Best Paper Award at the IEEE Symposium on Hardware Oriented Security and Trust (HOST)<\/a> with another of his graduate students, further underscoring the impact of their work in the field of secure computing.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The award-winning paper addresses key vulnerabilities in emerging quantum computing architectures and proposes novel solutions for enhancing their security, according to Ghosh. This research contributes to the foundational understanding of building trustworthy quantum systems, a critical area as quantum technologies continue to advance toward practical deployment.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In addition to her research accomplishments, Subrata Das recently received the Harry G. Miller Fellowship in Engineering from the Penn State College of Engineering, further recognizing her academic excellence and contributions to the field.<\/p>\n
