An emergency at Perth Airport has threatened to throw flights into disarray.

Hundreds of passengers were evacuated from the international terminal shortly after 5pm AEST on Wednesday afternoon when a fire alarm was triggered.

Fire crews and police quickly arrived and the terminal has been cleared to resume operations, however, all passengers will need to get re-screened through security.

A spokesperson for Perth Airport said the re-screening process was underway and it was not clear how many flights would be delayed.
