The body of a missing teenager has been found in a river in the Tamworth area after he failed to resurface, having entered the water on Monday.
The 15-year-old disappeared beneath the water just after 7.40pm on Monday and emergency services were called to the Scott Road and Peel Street area in Tamworth – 400km north of Sydney – to search for him.
At 8.30am on Tuesday his body was recovered from the river.
The teenager is yet to be identified but a crime scene has been established, and a report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
