A handwritten split training workout routine is going viral on social media. Provided by the gym trainer, Ashok, this split routine targets different muscle groups on separate days to allow for focused work and recovery. However, the humorous misspellings of the common words in the post left social media users in splits.
The misspellings in the now-viral Reddit post included words like “Jim Trener” instead of “gym trainer”, “Cardeo” instead of “Cardio”, “Bicep & soldier” instead of “Bicep & Shoulder”, and “Funcshional training” instead of “Functional Training”. This sparked a wave of emotions online and even prompted a few gym enthusiasts to suggest better workout plans for beginners.
Inside The Humorous Split Training Routine
“My gym trainer has given me this split,” read the note alongside the image of the handwritten page, which included the chart as follows:
JIM TRENER NAME-ASHOK
MONDAY – LEGS q BACK
TUESDAY – CARDEO
WEDNESDAY – BICEP q SOLDIER
THURSDAY – ABS
FRIDAY – TRICEP q CHEST
SATURDAY – FUNCSHIONAL TRAINING
SUNDAY – REST
The note, attached to the now-deleted post, read, “I am a newbie in the gym and my trainer has given me this split. How does it look?”
The Internet Is Divided On The Humorous Training Routine
The handwritten workout schedule provided by the gym trainer Ashok, which features common and humorous misspellings, became an unexpected source of gentle humour among social media users.
A person tried to relate the ‘Soldier’ bit with Bobby Deol and his film, Soldier and posted a snap from the film.
Another mentioned, “This made me LOL.” A person joked, “Bhai lekin wo Tuesday ko car kyu maang raha hai tumhari.” Echoing the same emotion, a person stated, “Car deo? Mai kyun du apni car isko harr Tuesday?” “Bro, his name is incorrectly spelt: ASHOCK,” read a comment. A person wondered, “How can someone spell GYM wrong? It’s literally his job.”
Contrary to the above reactions, a few social media users also reacted strongly to those who were trolling the gym trainer for his misspellings. A person mentioned, “English is probably not his 1st language.”Someone added, “It’s a satirical post, dude. Also, we live in India, English is not one’s first language here.”
A user commented, “I know he is trying and I shouldn’t make fun of his English. There are other languages, too, that I have no idea about. However, he dares to write Funcshional training shows his commitment.” “Why is everyone making fun of him because of his weak English, which isn’t even our own language. Shows the mentality of people here a lot. Filthy superiority complex for no reason,” read one more comment.
This Kind Of Split Training Shouldn’t Be Recommended To Beginners
A few fitness enthusiasts also suggested that the gym beginner should opt for a different set of training practices rather than the split training. A person mentioned, “As a beginner, you should opt for upper body, lower body for a few weeks, then shift to ppl.” “And instead of getting specific cardio days, just try and complete 10k steps daily initially. Then, when you shift to ppl get 2 days of cardio besides the workout,” elaborated another.
Based on online reviews and reactions, this split training approach can be effective for advanced lifters. But it is not the optimal choice for a beginner, as this kind of split training trains and targets one muscle group only once per week, which might not be effective enough for a beginner. To make significant gains, you need to hit each major muscle group at least twice a week.
Instead of a split training routine, a full-body workout routine performed at least 2-3 times per week is highly recommended for beginners.
