Alex Pereira has revealed his brief romance with fellow UFC fighter Tracy Cortez is over – just days after they went Instagram official.

The MMA power couple entered 2026 together after Cortez, 32, posted two romantic snaps of them holding up sparklers and sharing a kiss on New Year’s Eve.

Earlier this week, she also uploaded a video which showed her asking him on a flight if they were going to get married.

Pereira, a two-time UFC Lightweight champion and former Middleweight king, replied saying ‘Chama’ – a popular Portuguese slang term which translates as ‘let’s go’.

Yet merely a few days later, the 38-year-old fight icon took to Instagram to announce they have now agreed to go their separate ways.

‘Thank you my fans for all the love. I would like to communicate with you guys that even though me and Tracy shared great moments together, we decided it would be better for the both of us to go our separate ways,’ Pereira wrote on his story.

‘I wish her nothing but the best in her journey.’

He then followed up the announcement with a cryptic video of himself running in the middle of a thunderstorm, while saying ‘rain is a blessing’ and ‘god is good’.

Pereira is one of the most successful UFC fighters of all time after becoming only the ninth in history to capture titles in two weight classes.

The Brazilian is also the first to reign supreme in the lightweight and middleweight divisions.

American star Cortez, meanwhile, is yet to compete for a UFC championship despite spending six years in the promotion.

The flyweight, who was signed by Dana White back in 2019 after winning his Tuesday Night Contender Series, won her first six bouts in the UFC before a unanimous-decision defeat to Rose Namajunas in 2024.

After rebounding with a victory over Viviane Araujo last summer, she lost her last fight against Erin Blanchfield at Madison Square Garden back in November.

A bloodied and bruised Cortez was almost unrecognizable after that fight, having absorbed some brutal strikes from her American counterpart before losing via submission.
