Man has been taken into custody
A popular beachside suburb was left on tenterhooks following unconfirmed reports of shots being fired in broad daylight.Â
Emergency services rushed to McKinnon Drive in Cooroibah, on Queensland‘s Sunshine Coast, just after 10am on Friday.Â
It’s believed the road was blocked while police worked to secure the scene.
A spokesperson for Queensland Police told Daily Mail a man has been taken into custody and no injuries have been reported.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
One local described the incident as a ‘siege’ on social media.Â
‘Siege incident got turned around on McKinnon at 11.40am. Hope it’s over soon and no one is hurt,’ they wrote.Â
Others reported seeing multiple police cars and an ambulance on site, along with a police helicopter circulating overhead.
‘Just seen three police cars, ambulance and first responders race past on McKinnon. Blocked from Carriage Way,’ one said.Â
