Thousands of nominations were made, with fitness fans across the borough putting forward their favourite gyms in a bid to see them crowned best in the borough.

The shortlist features a mix of independent gyms and specialist fitness centres alongside more modern facilities, all of which play a key role in helping Bolton residents stay active, healthy and motivated.

With the New Year well under way, many people will already be working through their resolutions, with getting fitter and healthier high on the list.

From welcoming complete beginners who may need one-to-one support on gym equipment, to creating strong fitness communities and delivering specialist training, each gym on the shortlist brings something unique to Bolton.

The top 10 shortlisted gyms are:

Future Fitness – Farnworth

Grapple Clinic – Farnworth

Hybrid Performance Centre – Westhoughton

Insync Personal Training – Bradshaw

Optimal Performance Centre – Egerton

REAL GYM 24/7 –Bertha Street

Stealth Brazilian Jiu Jitsu – Halliwell Road

The Colony Health and Fitness Gym – Bark Street

Warrior Gym – Halliwell
