Russell Crowe Opens Up About 55-Lb Weight Loss
The Nuremberg actor opened up about his weight loss transformation on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, and wasn’t shy about getting into the exact numbers. “I was 126 kilos [277 lbs.] when I finished Nuremberg. I’m 100.9 [kilos, or 222.4 lbs.] now,” he revealed.
Crowe explained that he focused on diet and exercise, as well as taking injections (more on those down below!) and cutting down on alcohol. Most importantly of all, he said he is taking the weight loss journey “really slowly,” because he knows he will burn out if he does too much too soon – especially with his hectic and demanding filming schedule!
“That was one of the things I was worried about with [the remake of 1986’s Highlander] because jumping into that role with the shoot date coming, I was thinking that I’ve got to do three workouts a day,” he confessed.
The Boy Erased actor went on: “That’s a bad recipe for me because I can do that for X amount of time, but once I stop, I’m going to stop completely.”

Russell Crowe Reveals How Cutting Down His Alcohol Intake Helped Him
The Robin Hood actor also revealed that he has seriously reduced his alcohol intake lately, which he has found much better for his health as he has gotten older.
“I’m a big proponent for having a drink – it’s my cultural heritage and as a working class man, it’s my [expletive] right, Joe,” he joked on the podcast. “But as you get older,” he went on, “there are certain things you start to learn about your capacities.”
Crowe said that he hasn’t cut alcohol out completely, but no longer drinks “for the sake of it,” and is instead much more mindful about when he does.
“If I decide to have a glass of wine with dinner, it’s going to be a really nice wine,” he said. “I try not to have casual drinks, now. [As in] having a drink for the sake of it.”

Russell Crowe Talks About Receiving Injections
The Les Misérables alum also opened up about the Ways2Well platform, which Rogan actually introduced him to, explaining that he has been receiving treatments through the service. The platform reportedly focuses on whole-body wellness, offering services such as bloodwork, hormone optimization, stem cell therapy, peptide therapy, and more.
Crowe explained that he has found the injections particularly beneficial, as they have helped treat injuries from various film roles over the years. “I’m not really across the science, but the real benefit I’m getting from these into my shoulders, my knees, and also IVs, is that it’s calmed down my body’s inflammation. I think we talked before about just how many old injuries I carry, and how the injuries in my shoulders are deeply arthritic,” he said.
Crowe is already starting to see and feel the benefits, and revealed: “We can now see in an ultrasound that a year ago I had big thick bands of arthritis, and now it’s lessened by about 70 percent. On one area in my right shoulder, probably by about 90 percent. It’s all going good, and I’m just feeling the musculature starting to build and everything.”
The father-of-two concluded by saying he hopes to maintain these changes long-term, adding: “What I want to do is make all these changes and make it a long-term situation. [The injections] was a great call for me, because it’s calmed down a bunch of stuff and it’s taking a bunch of pain away, so I can go and work out and not have to suffer for two or three hours afterwards.”
