The Harrisburg Area YMCA is expanding its presence in downtown Harrisburg.
The organization took over the lease and operations of the former Fit On Market fitness facility in Strawberry Square at 310 Market St. The location is now known as Y on Market.
The 3,420 square-foot Fit on Market unstaffed fitness center opened in 2020 under the ownership and management of Harristown Enterprises, the owner of Strawberry Square.
Y on Market has a variety of weights and cardio equipment. Shower facilities and short-term lockers are available to all members.
Fitness center members have access to the facility from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. The fitness center is accessible only through a key fob and is equipped with security cameras. Free on-street parking is available weekdays before 8 a.m. and after 5 p.m., and all day on Sundays.
For current members, the Fit On Market membership rate will be matched until their original term ends.
Beginning on Tuesday, current and new members can go to any of the five Harrisburg Area YMCA membership locations to sign the Y On Market waiver and pay a one-time $20 activation fee to receive a key fob.
Access to the Y on Market facility requires members to be at least 18 years old and out of high school.
“We are always looking for new ways to serve our members where they are, and this space allows us to bring the YMCA mission directly into the center of downtown Harrisburg,” David Ozmore, president and CEO of the Harrisburg Area YMCA, said in a news release.
The Harrisburg Area YMCA has locations in Harrisburg, Lower Paxton Township, and Washington Township in Dauphin County. Across the river in Cumberland County, the Harrisburg Area YMCA also has a location in Hampden Township.
