SARAID Taylor could make her long-awaited return to football this weekend, the defender set for a fitness test prior to Round 12.

Taylor has been out of action since pre-season, managing a complex calf injury.

“Saraid completed a modified training session today, which was great to see,” said Josh Keily, the club’s AFLW High Performance Manager.

“She’ll look to progress through to full training later this week, with the hope to be available for selection.”

During Melbourne’s 17-point win over the Western Bulldogs, Sinead Goldrick (hamstring) and Shelley Heath-Barker (concussion) were removed from the game due to injury.

“Shelley unfortunately was involved in a head knock during the game on Saturday and entered into concussion protocols,” Keily said.

“We’ll progress her through the protocols as symptoms allow.

“Sinead unfortunately suffered a hamstring injury during the match, but is moving well after a few days of rest.

“She ticked off some running today which is really positive.”

After suffering a foot injury in Round 6, Lauren Clifton has hit some positive milestones in her rehab journey.

“Lauren has returned to running for the first time since injuring her foot,” Keily said.

“We’ll now look to build her running loads in this next phase of her rehab.”

Mia Austin, who underwent surgery on a throat injury, has started integrating back into strength and running.

“Mia’s review with her surgeon was really positive,” Keily said.

“She’s now made a return to running and strength work, and we’ll look to build her loads over the coming weeks.”

Eliza McNamara (jaw), Chloe Baker-West (leg) and Grace Beasley (ACL) all continue to work through their respective rehab programs.
