The teenage P-plater accused of killing a woman and her unborn baby in a tragic crash in Sydney‘s northern suburbs is enjoying his freedom on bail after spending a week in Silverwater jail.

Aaron Papazoglu, 19, was back on the road on Monday but with his older brother Ari behind the wheel, following his release from the western Sydney prison after initially being refused bail.

Papazoglu is required to live at his mother Cindy Papazoglu’s apartment in nearby Wahroonga on a $50,000 surety, and must not contact any Crown witnesses as he awaits his next hearing in January.

His release comes as new details emerge about mother-of-one Samanvitha Dhareshwar, 33, who was eight months pregnant.

She died when Papazoglu’s BMW allegedly rammed a Kia Carnival as it waited for Ms Dhareshwar and her family to cross the entrance of Hornsby train station car park.

IndianLink reported that Ms Dhareshwar was just 20 days away from giving birth to her second child and that her parents had been due to fly to Australia for the birth

Her mother-in-law had been living with Ms Dhareshwar, husband Vineet and their three-year-old son for almost a year and was set to return to India this month.

An Indian neighbour told IndianLink how she bumped into Ms Dhareshwar in their Orion Apartments building just two hours before her death.

She told the neighbour she was on her way to pick her husband up from the office and that their three-year-old was ‘adamant to see his dad’.

The neighbour said the expectant mother was a ‘very outgoing, calm and polite person’ and that ‘the family was very happy, they had just bought their land’.

The Daily Mail last week revealed the couple had bought a plot of land in Grantham Farm, in Sydney’s north-west, last year.

They had submitted a building development application for a two-storey dwelling with Blacktown City Council just two months ago, on September 8.

Since the crash, Ms Dhareshwar’s husband and son have not been seen at their Hornsby apartment complex and are understood to be with relatives in north-west Sydney.

NSW Police investigating the November 13 crash allege the accident happened around 8pm after the Kia driven by a middle-aged male driver slowed at the entrance to Hornsby station Number 1 carpark to let the family cross.

Police allege Papazoglu’s white BMW hit the Kia from behind causing it to surge forward and strike Ms Dhareshwar, who was treated at the scene but later died with her unborn baby in Westmead Hospital.

Papazoglu, who has no previous criminal or driving offences, accelerated through an intersection when the traffic light changed to amber, a lawyer told Parramatta Local Court at the teen’s first, unsuccessful bail application.

When he applied again, at Downing Centre court last Friday, Papazoglu was successful and later walked free from Silverwater on conditional bail and with his licence suspended.

Papazoglu is charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning death and causing the loss of a foetus – death of a pregnant woman.

He has not entered any pleas, and will be back in court on January 13.

The court heard Papazoglu had no prior criminal history, is of good character, and has strong community ties.

His lawyer Chris Kalpage said the case had ‘a long way to go’.
