Pepe Garcia-Gonzalez made it to Love Island USA season 7’s finale when he was coupled up with Iris Kendall…but it seems like he may not be fully closed off in their connection. The islander dropped a different kind of bombshell during a recent interview with Elite Daily, where he revealed he reached out to his past connection, Hannah Fields.

“The second day after getting back, I got her number,” he said during the July 16 interview. “I texted her to say, ‘Hey, let’s see if we can connect and talk.’ We’ve both been busy, so hopefully it happens today.”

He shared that he mainly wanted to debrief their “crazy” experience together on the show and hopefully gain some closure in their connection. “I just want to have that conversation with her and tell her how I felt,” he continued. “I’ve seen some podcasts that she’s done, and I know she understands it.”

Pepe also expressed wanting to keep things cordial with his past connection, adding, “I want to say, ‘You know what? I respect you and I want to be friends with you.’”

Allow us to catch you up to speed: Pepe and Iris both came into the Villa as bombshells during the second week of Love Island USA season 7. They originally paired up with Hannah and TJ Palma, respectively, but decided to explore a connection with each other once their partners were eventually dumped from Fiji.

Pepe’s admission comes after Iris was spotted reuniting with TJ upon her arrival in L.A., per footage captured by TMZ. “They went on a walk and talk for about two hours before going into his place,” a source told the outlet.

Lock In on ‘Love Island USA’

As for where Pepe and Iris stand now, the pair confirmed that they’re still together during a July 17 interview with Today.

“I think at this point, everybody kind of knows we’re together, obviously,” Pepe said. “They know it’s very different than normal relationships… It’s just, continue to be with each other and focus on each other and just make sure that we can see this through.”

Iris chimed in, explaining that she’s interested to “see what we’re like without microphones and cameras and everything.” She added, “We haven’t been back home for that long, but the times that we have been together, I feel like we’re really having fun.”
