Kellie Finlayson was absolutely glowing as she attended a prestigious event on Tuesday.

The former AFL WAG was pretty in pink as she stepped out for the McGrath Day luncheon at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

The day honours Jane McGrath, the late wife of former cricketer Glenn McGrath, who died from breast cancer in 2008 at the age of 42.

It’s a topic close to Kellie’s heart, as the 30-year-old is battling terminal bowel cancer.

In photos from the day, Kellie stunned in a plunging, pastel pink maxi dress paired with cream heels.

She chose a bronzed makeup look that matched her tan along with a mauve lipstick, while wearing her blonde hair down in soft waves.

Also showing up for the charity event was Edwina Bartholomew, who was chic in a retro, baby pink suit.

She added a pair of towering black heels and carried a designer handbag in a thatched brown fabric.

Dani Willis likewise came along, showing off her trim pins in a white and pale pink mini dress with a one-shoulder design.

The wife of Aussie cricketer Steve Smith added a pair of high-heeled flip flops and chose a peachy makeup palette.

Meanwhile, Kellie also shared a slew of photos from the event to social media, documenting the celebration alongside a number of friends.

Kellie, who was diagnosed with terminal cancer after doctors found a tennis ball-sized tumour in her colon when she was just 25, reached her 30th birthday last year.

The blonde, who is married to former Port Adelaide AFL forward Jeremy Finlayson, had just given birth to their daughter Sophia in 2021 when she experienced symptoms that were at first put down to the pains of new motherhood.

‘Being a new mum, a lot of things felt off,’ Kellie said at the time.

‘I was tired, I had pains in my stomach, my bowel movements had changed and I was losing weight – all very ‘normal’ symptoms for a new mum.’

But then she spotted blood in her stools.

‘After a few days of it occurring regularly, Jeremy told me to go see a doctor to see if it was still normal, and to stop relying on Dr Google,’ she said.

After waking up from a colonoscopy to the news she had cancer, her world came crashing down.

A year-and-a-half later, cancer was found in her lung – meaning the disease had progressed to stage four, and was terminal.

Rather than accepting her fate, Kellie became a relentless campaigner for raising awareness about the early signs of bowel cancer, raised her daughter, and supported her husband – all with a cruel death sentence hanging over her head.

She has since celebrated her 30th birthday – an age few thought she would ever see.

‘I made it!’ she posted to Instagram. ‘I (expected) to feel a decade older the moment I woke up. I didn’t, obviously.

‘I was spiralling the day before, not because I didn’t want to enter my 30s. I more than anyone know ageing is a privilege.

‘It was more around the fact that four years ago, no one, including myself, thought that I would turn 30.

‘But I did, I am here, and I plan to see 40, 50 and 60, too.’

Kellie marked the milestone during a weekend away with Jeremy and Sophia, four.

It appeared they rented a tiny home in the bush, with Kellie sharing pictures of herself snuggling in bed and in an outdoor bathtub with her daughter, and enjoying a family dinner, along with a sweet card written by Sophia.

The family lives in Adelaide after the couple married in 2023.

Jeremy was delisted by Port in August after being one of the team’s biggest stars.

Kellie revealed on Instagram that her husband is doing shift work as a ‘reach stacker’.

In the post, Kellie joked that she did not know what a ‘reach stacker’ was, before stating that she does not believe he will return to take up a role with Port Adelaide in the future.

A reach stacker is a specialist in heavy-duty logistics.

The role includes being responsible for operating a high-capacity mobile crane to transport and stack shipping containers or heavy cargo.

‘He’s (Jeremy) mostly the default parent… but he does shift work,’ Kellie said during an Instagram Q&A.

‘I’m not going to pretend what a reach stacker is but this is his uniform.’

Last year, Kellie also released her first book, entitled There Must Be More: Finding Purpose In A Life With Cancer.

The book focuses on how she has dealt with her devastating diagnosis.

She explained she was ‘so incredibly proud to share this piece with the world, and still so confused every day as to why my story is worthy of being literally printed in a book.’

‘Imposter syndrome is screaming, but deep down, I know this is bigger than me.

‘This is for those who have faced devastation, for those who feel alone, for those who no longer have a voice to share their story.

‘For those who are stuck for words, for those who feel helpless.

‘I feel like I’ve lived a dozen lives, and somehow, beyond motherhood, becoming an author might just be the most surreal one yet.

‘This is hope. This is me – the rawest version of me.’
