Sydney train commuters have been warned to expect delays following an incident on one of the city’s main western-line stations.

Emergency services were called to Parramatta station on Thursday afternoon, triggering delays across the city’s network.

One commuter on X said passengers were ‘evacuated off our train and told that trains were not running west of Parramatta’.

Transport NSW confirmed the incident online. 

‘Allow extra travel time due to an incident requiring emergency services at Parramatta,’ it said.

‘Trains may stop on platforms or between stations for longer than normal. 

‘Stops may change at short notice.’

The delays are expected to continue into the post-work rush.

Some reports suggested the unspecified incident at Parramatta was mental health related.
