Bob Hope made an ominous decision on Emmerdale in the storyline involving April Windsor, with his choice potentially having huge ramifications. After unwittingly playing into Celia Daniels’s hands, what could be in store in the Dales?

April has been in danger in recent weeks after becoming involved with the villainous Ray Walters, who is Celia’s adoptive son. The teenager has been tasked with carrying drugs, and she was arrested last week.

Instead of calling her father Marlon, April opted instead to contact Bob and ask him to be her appropriate adult during questioning. She begged him not to tell Marlon about the situation, though he was torn as to what to do.

Tuesday’s (18 November) instalment of the ITV soap began with Marlon confronting April, though it was only for missing Ivy’s birthday party. After Marlon left, April urged Bob to keep quiet, though he reasoned that he deserved to know.

The villainous Celia was watching nearby, and took a particular interest in what April was discussing with Bob. After the teen explained that he could potentially tell all, Celia vowed to clean up the mess herself.

Celia promptly headed to Bob and laid on the charm as she convinced him to divulge all the stuff that was bothering him. The villain manipulated the situation to her own advantage, and Bob began to question if sharing all was the wisest move.

“Once you say those words, you can never take them back,” said Celia. “And if she did run away again, she might… You were the one person she trusted – surely that’s worth more than anything?”

The words had an effect on Bob, who reversed his stance and agreed not to tell Marlon about any of April’s deeds. Bob informed April of his decision while Celia was still around, and she issued a stern warning as she left.

As April explained that she wouldn’t make another mistake, Celia ominously remarked that the youngster had used up her “final chance”. With Marlon and Rhona still none the wiser, will April ever be able to escape Celia and Ray’s clutches?

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
