Coronation Street spoilers follow from Friday’s episode (12 December), which is available to watch now on ITVX and YouTube but hasn’t yet aired on ITV1.

Coronation Street has finally confirmed how Carl Webster will be caught out for his hit-and-run earlier this year. The soap looks set to revisit the storyline, which saw Tyrone Dobbs run down by Carl, leaving him with severe injuries.

While Tyrone has been unaware of his assailant, Carl has been in the clear for a few months now. However, it appears things may turn upside for him thanks to some drone footage teased in today’s episode.

At the end of the episode, Carl is seemingly relieved when Abi tells Debbie Webster and Ronnie Bailey that the police have dropped Tyrone’s case.

“Suppose there’s not much you can do with a hit-and-run without a suspect,” Ronnie notes.

“So that’s it then, it’s all over officially?” Carl says, as Abi suggests there is “no evidence” and Debbie laments the possibility that Tyrone may never know who hit him.

However, the soap then cuts to Liam Connor watching footage from his drone for a school project, which shows Carl getting into the car that would go on to injure Tyrone.

Could he be the one to bring Carl down?

Show boss Kate Brooks recently teased that the storyline would re-emerge over the festive period, saying: “Tyrone still doesn’t know the truth about Carl and the car. So there are things which are bubbling – and ready to kick off…”

Speaking earlier this year, Tyrone actor Alan Halsall spoke about his character’s journey forward, admitting: “There’s definite frustration there as to who has done this and anger that the police can’t come up with any answers.

“He’d like some form of justice for this accident and to at least find out who it was. That’s definitely the case for the whole family.”

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
