Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street has offered fans another clue in the puzzle about Shona Platt’s half-sister, Jodie Ramsey, as she relocates to the cobbles. In tonight’s episode, David was working out a way to tell Shona that Jodie would be staying with them for a while. For her part, Jodie didn’t seem like she’d be going anywhere as she chatted to David’s daughter, Lily, and niece, Bethany.
“She seems nice,” Bethany told David.
“Settled in quickly, hasn’t she?” she continued. “Good luck explaining that one to Shona.”
At the hospital, Shona informed David she was being discharged. David then had no choice but to tell his wife that he’d taken Jodie in after he saw her having “some sort of a panic attack”.
Shona was unsure at first, but realised her sister needed help. “I’m sure it will be fine,” she said, but David didn’t look too convinced.

Meanwhile, Nick Tilsley called at David and Shona’s and was startled to see a stranger in Jodie. She told him she was David’s sister-in-law, but a disbelieving Nick insisted to stay until his brother and Shona returned. Once David and Shona cleared up the misunderstanding, confirming Jodie was indeed her sister, Nick finally left.
As Jodie went upstairs to change, Shona spotted some bruises on her wrists. She brought them up later on, asking Jodie if an abusive relationship was the reason she didn’t have a place to stay.
“It’s what you get for picking the wrong bloke, I suppose,” Jodie said.
“The one time I try to get away, and I end up getting caught up in a massive car accident, what are the chances?” she added, referring to the devastating accident aired during the crossover episode with Emmerdale, Corriedale. “But then I saw you at the hospital, and everything just made sense. It was like it was meant to be.”

When Shona encouraged her to report her violent ex, Jodie said she couldn’t as it would lead him back to her.
Once she was alone with David, Shona opened up about feeling responsible about Jodie after letting her down in the past.
Shona walked out on her little sister and her family when she was younger and hadn’t been able to reconnect with them after they moved. This time, she wanted to take care of Jodie and promised her she’d by her side.
“You know you can talk to me. When you’re ready,” Shona told her. “You’ll be alright.”

In the final scenes, Jodie decided to leave her past behind. Despite having told David she’d lost her phone, she found her SIM card in her purse and binned it.
“I’ll be more than alright,” she said in an ominous development — what is she up to?
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
