Carl Webster continues to spin his web of lies in tonight’s (21 January) episode of Coronation Street.

Already available to stream on ITVX and YouTube, in the latest instalment, Carl manages to convince Tyrone Dobbs that he wasn’t involved in the hit and run which caused his injuries.

Kicking off with a confrontation, the episode begins with Tyrone pinning Carl against the wall with his crutch and demanding answers. When the two later sit down to chat, however, the ever-conniving Carl claims he’s innocent and assures Tyrone that it’s all in Kevin’s head.

Noting this brother is in a “dark place” right now, Carl tells Tyrone that rather than fighting, they should be putting their heads together and working out how they can help Kevin and put an end to his paranoid accusations. Clearly convinced by Carl’s argument, Tyrone leaves their meeting and joins Fizz for a drink in the Rovers. “Everything that Carl said, it kind of made sense in the end,” he admits.

When Kevin arrives at the pub and asks Tyrone about the confrontation, he’s gutted to learn that Tyrone has actually fallen for Carl’s act. “First it was Abi, then Debbie. Now he’s got you wrapped around his little finger,” Kevin declares. “Well, don’t come crying to me when he wrecks your life like he has mine.”

Ahead of tonight’s episode, our Corrie insider has shed some light on Tyrone’s initial anger towards Carl, noting: “Tyrone is rightly raging that Carl is apparently behind the car accident that left him temporarily paralysed, as the injury totally changed his life.

“Not only did the accident put a huge strain on his and Fiz’s rocky marriage, but it also took him months to learn how to walk again. To think that Carl has got off scot free for the crime is too much for Ty to bear, so he takes the law into his own hands.”

While Carl manages to convince Tyrone of his innocence, Kevin remains convinced that Carl was behind the wheel and manipulated Debbie Webster into taking the fall.

In a new Coronation Street trailer, further developments in the storyline have been revealed, with Debbie standing trial and pleading guilty to causing Billy’s death. As Kevin watches on, confused by Debbie’s actions, what he doesn’t realise is that she’s actually Carl’s mum and not his sister, which is why she’s so determined to protect him. The question is: when will that secret rise to the surface?

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
