EastEnders spoilers follow.
EastEnders’ Jake Moon will be heading back to Albert Square next week, as he seeks answers about Anthony Trueman’s shocking death. Jake, who exited the soap in 2006, was last seen in September when he reunited with his former flame Chrissie Watts.
After driving off into the sunset together, Chrissie returned to Walford on Christmas Day, revealing herself as Zoe Slater’s secret tormentor. Viewers saw her ignoring Jake’s texts as she plowed forward with her twisted revenge plot.
In upcoming episodes, Jake decides to visit Zoe, who is currently in prison for Anthony’s murder. Having witnessed Chrissie’s relentless anger, he is determined to find out what exactly happened at Christmas.
Of course, viewers know that Anthony was actually killed by his and Zoe’s estranged daughter Jasmine Fisher. However, Zoe is adamant that Chrissie was the one who set her up, which she explains to a horrified Jake.

“He struggles with it because it cuts remarkably close to his own past and what he did to Danny. He knows it is a possibility, but he deliberately resists it,” explained Joel Beckett, who plays Jake.
“Jake understands better than most how extreme circumstances, which he has found himself in, can push people to do unimaginable things. Jake lives with the knowledge that he killed his own brother and that makes him very wary of judging Chrissie, even if that doubt does start to creep in.”

The actor claimed Jake “does not want to” believe Chrissie killed Anthony, but is fully aware of her desire for revenge. After his conversation with Zoe, the character is left fearing the worst.
“For Jake to accept she might not be [a good person], would mean questioning everything he has sacrificed in his life. There is too much invested for him to think otherwise,” he explained. “He believes she is a good person; he has loved her and waited for almost 20 years. In many ways, he has been doing his own sentence waiting for her to get out [of prison].”
Later, Jake has an unexpected run-in with Kat Moon, who begs him to help free Zoe. Jake reluctantly agrees to lure Chrissie back to Walford – but will she fall into his trap?
EastEnders airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
