Hollyoaks spoilers follow.
Hollyoaks has confirmed tension between two popular couples next week, as their respective engagements spark a new rivalry. Each couple battles to host the perfect party, but will their celebrations go as planned?
This week’s episodes on the Channel 4 soap saw Ste Hay desperately trying to win Rex Gallagher back with a grand gesture to prove his love. He surprised Rex with a marriage proposal, which the latter accepted after some consideration.
Ste wasted no time in planning his engagement party, and he was thrilled to hear that his daughter Leah would be attending despite the fact that she is currently studying across the pond in America.
His happiness was short-lived, however, as he discovered that The Hutch was already booked out by Jack Osborne and Pearl Anderson, who got engaged on Christmas Day.

When Pearl refused to change her date, Ste retaliated by booking The Dog on the same day and handing out party invitations before Pearl could deliver hers.
In next week’s scenes, Jack steps in to ask Ste to move his party, so that all of their friends and neighbours can be in attendance at both. He attempts to persuade Ste to find some middle ground.
But will Ste listen to reason, or could the situation escalate into an epic showdown?
While Ste has been preoccupied with his latest feud, Rex has been dealing with his own struggles following the death of his mum, Grace Black.

In recent episodes, the grief-stricken Rex tried on Grace’s clothes and makeup, and has been secretly exploring his identity ever since.
This week, Ro Hutchinson noticed Rex wearing a woman’s top when he asked him for a job at the garage. Though the teen didn’t explicitly comment on the clothes, he did gently encourage Rex to be himself – which the latter seemingly took on board.
Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.
Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
