Coronation Street will explore Asha’s hidden trauma in scenes airing on Tuesday, 26 August.
Following Monday’s hour-long episode, which is dedicated to Asha, the character will find herself confiding in Lisa in The Rovers.
After working a hellish shift as a paramedic, which involved Asha dealing with an injured elderly resident, a racist attack and a tragic death – not to mention the news of her twin brother Aadi’s departure – Asha will continue to struggle in Tuesday’s episode, especially after heading to a collision site where she finds Aadi’s car.

Having failed to open up to Dev, it’s Lisa who eventually comes to a drunken Asha’s aid. Lending her support to the trainee paramedic, Lisa encourages Asha to report the abuse she received during her shift to her manager.

Tanisha Gorey, who began playing Asha in 2009, has opened up about her character’s heartbreaking arc.
“I feel honoured to be trusted with a storyline of this scale and significance,” she said. “Stepping into the shoes of a trainee paramedic and exploring the highs, lows and emotional challenges of their work has been both moving and eye-opening.
“It’s a role that carries a huge responsibility, and I hope we’ve done justice to the reality so many face. If this story reaches even one person, sparks a conversation, or offers a moment of understanding, then it’s served its purpose.”

Gorey has also reflected on Aadi’s departure, which has come as a huge shock to Asha.
“She’s absolutely distraught about Aadi leaving, they aren’t just twins but they are also best friends – although they have a love/hate relationship,” she explained.
“He supports her so much and is the only person who she can really trust, so I think knowing that he is leaving is making her feel even more isolated.”
