EastEnders’ executive producer Ben Wadey has shared some exciting details about Sean Slater’s big return. Rob Kazinsky will be back on the soap soon as Sean, marking the character’s first full-time return in 17 years.
Speaking to Digital Spy and other media, Wadey teased what was to come for Sean and some of the faces he’ll be getting reacquainted with.
“He’s arriving at an interesting point for that Slater clan, but he has connections all over the place,” Wadey said.

“He saw Amy as his child briefly, and I think he still holds onto that a little bit, so he’s got those connections. Him and Max have somewhat of a chequered past, him and Jack also very complicated. So he’s one of those characters who can land back in the show and immediately have conflict or love with everyone.”
During his initial run on the soap Sean was married to Roxy Mitchell, and for a time, he believed he was Amy’s dad. While Sean was known as the ultimate bad boy, he’s now coming back to the Square as a 40-year-old man.
Wadey continued: “Seeing him grow up a little bit, but not growing up too much because you still want the fun of classic Sean Slater. It’s been great, he’s been filming for a couple of weeks now.
“I get to go in and look at the daily footage and just watching some of those early scenes and being like, ‘okay, Sean’s back, this is good’. So I can’t wait for all you guys to see him. We’ve got very exciting plans for him, that we’ll be talking about a bit more down the line.”
Speaking when his return was announced, Kazinsky said he couldn’t wait to “bring a new level of heartfelt chaos” back to Walford.
He said: “I left EastEnders in 2008 as a 23-year-old boy and was lucky to spend the next 19 years of my life working around the world, always championing EastEnders and stating the fact that one day I wanted to walk in Sean’s Shoes again, but this time as a man to see who Sean the man might also be.”

“I wanted to do it for Sean, I wanted to do it for the fans that have supported me in every role since I left the Square but, mostly, I wanted to do it for me,” he added.
“I’m home, and I can’t wait to bring a new level of heartfelt chaos to Albert Square in the way only Sean Slater can.”
EastEnders airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
