Emmerdale has confirmed a dramatic new dilemma for Robert Sugden, revealing what comes next after his secret husband Kev turned up on Robert’s doorstep in tonight’s episode (29 September).
Returning to the village earlier this year after serving six years in prison, Robert interrupted his ex-husband Aaron Dingle’s wedding to his half-brother John Sugden.

While Robert hasn’t revealed much about the time he spent behind bars, he has been having nightmares and is suffering from PTSD.
In tonight’s episode, Emmerdale viewers were shocked to see Robert’s secret husband, Kev, turn up in the village while on day release from prison.
The new character, played by former EastEnders star Chris Coghill, told Robert that he had been given a few months left to live, saying he needed Robert to be in his life.

In tomorrow’s episode (30 September), Victoria is angry with her brother 0ver his willingness to deceive Aaron, and vows to tell him the truth if Robert won’t.
Robert is torn between breaking Aaron’s heart or the heart of a dying man. However, after spotting a visiting order from Kev, Victoria is at her wits’ end with the situation.
Confirming that Robert does pay Kev a visit in prison during Thursday’s episode (2 October), Emmerdale released an image of the pair deep in conversation, but it remains to be seen whether Robert can find the guts to break Kev’s heart.
Speaking about his new role, Coghill said: “I’m thoroughly enjoying my time on Emmerdale so far. It’s an absolutely lovely place to work, the village is stunning and everyone is genuinely lovely.”

Meanwhile, an Emmerdale source previously told us: “Robert wants to leave prison in the past. Rob’s hinted at struggling to survive in there, and Kev’s arrival is about to unearth everything he’s tried to keep secret from his loved ones.”
The insider added: “Robert doesn’t look overjoyed to be reunited with Kev. We don’t know what he faced inside or what he had to do to get by. But if he and Kev were lovers, this might put a spanner in the works for any hope Robert has of reuniting with Aaron.”
