The NFL’s trade deadline is fast approaching, with teams across the league eyeing late deals that could define its season.

Whether it be the final piece of the puzzle for a Super Bowl run, or trading away assets for draft stock, it is set to be a huge few hours for America’s biggest league.

Follow along for all the latest news and rumors ahead of the 4pm deadline…

Breaking:TRADE ALERT: Quinnen Williams to the Dallas Cowboys

TRADE: The New York Jets are sending defensive lineman Quinnen Williams to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for defensive lineman Mazi Smith, a 2026 second-round pick and the Cowboys’ 2027 first-round pick.

Breaking:TRADE ALERT: Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts

TRADE: The New York Jets are trading cornerback Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts for a 2026 first-round pick, a 2027 first-round pick, and wide receiver Adonai Mitchell.

It’s already been a pretty busy day for the NFL, just two trades shy of last year

Will any more receivers get moved? Will pass rushers find new linemates? Will the Jets sell any more players?

The deadline is a 4:00pm ET. We’ve got about 50 minutes left.

Breece Hall wants out of the Jets

Who can blame him after everything that’s happened this afternoon?

Also, it seems the Colts are happy with what they’ve seen from Daniel JonesNeedless to say, the Colts are happy with getting Sauce GardnerThe Jets now have three first-round picks in the 2027 NFL Draft

The last time the Jets had three first round picks? 2022.

26th overall: Jermaine Johnson II, who is rumored to want out of the Jets at the deadline10th overall: Garrett Wilson, who has been in trade rumors but isn’t expected to be moved4th overall: Sauce Gardner.WHAT DOES THIS MEAN: Quinnen Williams to Dallas

FOR NEW YORK: Rebuild. It’s a full rebuild. With the Gardner trade from earlier this morning, the Jets now own five first-round picks across the next two drafts. Williams was among the names expected to move on from Florham Park after expressing his anger with the team.

FOR DALLAS: Hey, how ’bout them Cowboys. They still need to make some big moves to bulk their horrific defense (yes, even after making two defensive trades) but at least Williams is a step in the right direction. After trading away Micah Parsons in the offseason, Dallas’ pass rush became pretty toothless. Now, putting him alongside Kenny Clark should be a promising move for years to come.

ADDENDUM: The Jets also receive pass rusher Mazi Smith. A first-round pick in 2023, Smith has only made three tackles across five games this season. His contract lasts through 2027 – but has an option out in 2025.

Seems that general manager Darren Mougey didn’t agree.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN: Joe Tryon-Shoyinka to Chicago

FOR CLEVELAND: Tryon-Shoyinka was a luxury considering he occupied the same side of the defensive line as Myles Garrett. In a down year (9 total tackles, 5 solo, 0 sacks), this is a decent return.

FOR CHICAGO: On Sunday, the Bears lost Dayo Odeyingbo to a season-ending Achilles injury. Now they have someone who can be a replacement body in the pass rush.

TRADE: The Cleveland Browns send defensive end Joe Tryon-Shoyinka and a seventh-round pick to the Chicago Bears in exchange for a sixth-round pick.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN: Rashid Shaheed to Seattle

FOR NEW ORLEANS: The Saints are dead in the water this season. They’ve been needing to re-build for years and have serious issues in their roster construction. So, having three trade bait receivers is a luxury they can’t afford. A fourth and a fifth for a WR2 may be a bit high considering what Meyers went for this morning, but Shaheed has more yards and TDs anyway.

FOR SEATTLE: A speedy slot WR2 is just what the Seahawks needed to pair with league-leading receiver Jaxon Smtih-Njigba. Shaheed gets to reunite with former offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak and can really make an impact on a Seattle roster that has a bit of an injury bug among its pass catchers at the moment.

FOR NEW YORK: Blockbuster doesn’t even describe how unexpected this trade was. The Jets were expected to move on from multiple defensive players today, but trading away someone set to be a franchise cornerstone is unthinkable. That being said, acquiring two first-round picks is a massive – and pretty accurate – return for a former Defensive Rookie of the Year and two-time First-team All-Pro cornerback. It’s just a completely shocking move that will sting with Jets fans for some time now.

FOR INDIANAPOLIS: The Colts went from staring at the face of a 2026 rebuild this preseason to suddenly being in win-now mode at the deadline. They get a serious boost in an already strong defensive secondary which has the third-most interceptions in the league. How they were able to pull this off is amazing.

ADDENDUM: The full trade also sees wide receiver AD Mitchell going to the Jets. Mitchell, a 2024 second-round pick, has not managed to carve our a role for himself in this high-powered Colts offense, but could turn into a solid WR3 option behind Garrett Wilson and Tyler Johnson.

Breaking:TRADE ALERT: Rashid Shaheed to the Seattle Seahawks

TRADE: The New Orleans Saints are trading wide receiver Rashid Shaheed to the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for fourth and fifth round picks in 2026.

Back to Phase Two of the “Concepts of a Plan” portion of the trade deadline

Chicago wants to upgrade their pass rushing at the deadline

Where things stand with four hours to go

It’s past noon on the East Coast and it’s already feeling considerably slower than last year.

Meyers being the first big name off the board may set the market for the rest of the afternoon – especially with other wide receivers being offered up to other teams.Teams rumored to be aggressively pursuing help, according to an aggregation of reports are: Denver, Seattle, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas, and PhiladelphiaDallas, in particular, is reportedly looking for more help on the defensive side of the ball.A quick update for those playing along at home

Not much movement today, but it’s been a busy final month

Who was close enough to landing Meyers?WHAT DOES THIS MEAN: Meyers to Jacksonville

FOR LAS VEGAS: Meyers was set to become a free agent after his contract expired at the end of this season. He also previously requested a trade, so he wasn’t going to stay. This is a solid return for the Raiders.

FOR JACKSONVILLE: I doubt they’d trade Brian Thomas Jr. now that Trevor Lawrence has a good option at “Wide Receiver 2” now in Meyers. Travis Hunter has been woefully used and is now on IR, so picking him up will be very beneficial to any hope of a playoff push.

Breaking:TRADE ALERT: Jakobi Meyers to the Jacksonville Jaguars

FINALLY. Four hours after the first trade of the day, we have our second.

TRADE: Las Vegas Raiders are sending wide receiver Jakobi Meyers to the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for a fourth-round pick and a sixth-round pick

After cutting kicker Younghoe Koo earlier this year in favor of Parker Romo, the Falcons are now waiving Romo and are signing veteran Zane Gonzalez.

About last night’s Dre’Mont Jones trade

This is a bit of a gamble…

As you recall from an earlier post in here, Jones was traded from the Titans to the Ravens in exchange for a conditional fifth-round pick.

Well, according to SI’s Albert Breer, if Jones has at least two sacks over the course of the regular season and the Ravens make the playoffs, the fifth-rounder becomes a fourth-round pick.

Two teams in need of receiver help go the free agent route early

The New England Patriots signed former USC wide receiver Brenden Rice, the son of legendary pass catcher Jerry Rice. Brenden was a seventh-round pick by the Chargers in 2024 and has not played in the NFL.

Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh Steelers have signed Marquez Valdes-Scantling to their practice squad. The two-time Super Bowl champion was a favored target for Aaron Rodgers when they were both in Green Bay.

The Bears are rumored to trade a receiver. One father hopes his son is the one moved.

With the deadline at a crawl, teams may be trying to sus out who is on the block. The father of one of the Chicago Bears young stars is hoping that his son gets traded next.

We’ve officially reached the “Concepts of a Plan” phase of trade deadline day

It’s just a matter of time before the deals start going through, but apparently there’s boots on the ground in Seattle and Denver

One trade does not make the Cowboys any better

Despite the Logan Wilson trade earlier this morning, the Cowboys are not expected to be contenders any time soon.

Franchise legend Troy Aikman expressed that belief in the middle of Monday Night Football.

Current NFL Draft Order

With many teams looking to tank this season, this is currently where things stand for the NFL Draft.

1. New Orleans Saints (1-8)

2. Tennessee Titans (1-8)

6. Cleveland Browns (2-6)

7. Las Vegas Raiders (2-6)

8. Cincinnati Bengals (3-6)

9. Washington Commanders (3-6)

10. Baltimore Ravens (3-5)

Draft Picks could lead to big hauls

Among the teams who are under the “buy-now” category, many of them have a double-digit number of picks to move.

Take the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles: GM Howie Roseman gave up a third-round pick for Jaelan Phillips from Miami. He still has two other third-round picks and ten picks in total.

The Los Angeles Rams also have ten picks, including two first-rounders which could help them acquire a new offensive lineman if they’re able to work out a deal.

New England also has ten picks, but most of them are in late rounds (two fourths, a fifth, two sixths, and two sevenths).

But the most gluttonous team in the draft this year is Pittsburgh: a first, a second, three thirds, two fourths, a fifth, three sixths and a seventh. That could go a long way in getting pass catcher help for Aaron Rodgers.

Late Last Night…

The Baltimore Ravens added some pass rushing help by acquiring Tennessee Titans edge Dre’Mont Jones in exchange for a conditional 2026 fifth-round pick.

The New Orleans Saints. If GM Mickey Loomis is smart, he will trade (at minimum) one of Rashid Shaheed, Brandin Cooks, or Chris Olave for a decent return.

The Miami Dolphins just fired general manager Chris Grier, so the waters on any potential moves are murky at the moment. However, they have pass rushers (Bradley Chubb and Matthew Judon) they could move. Plus, as mentioned below, the possibility of moving Jaylen Waddle is intriguing.

The New York Jets have ample defensive line trade candidates and it’d be shocking if they all stayed put.

Who’s Buying?

In such a wide-receiver heavy market (as explained below), teams who need catching help will likely make a move. In that regard, look to the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers to get something done.

On the defensive side of the ball, look to the Patriots as well as the Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings, San Francisco 49ers, Buffalo Bills, and Indianapolis Colts to bulk up their pass rush.

The Colts may also be in for a cornerback, as will the Niners, Bears, and Green Bay Packers.

What Names Are Expected to Move: Defense Edition

You get a pass rusher, and you get a pass rusher, and you get a pass rusher…

Defensive line and Edge is the key this deadline.

Let’s go rapid fire: Quinnen Williams (NYJ), Trey Hendrickson (CIN), Arden Key (TEN), Bradley Chubb (MIA), Kingsley Enagbare (GB), Mazi Smith (DAL), Chauncey Golston (NYG). You could also see the Jets move Jermaine Johnson II, but that would be one of the biggest moves of the day.

Defensive secondary also seems to be a hot-button topic. Cornerbacks Tariq Woolen (SEA) and Cam Taylor-Britt (CIN) are the biggest names among the possible CB’s while for safeties, look to Tony Adams (NYJ), Minkah Fitzpatrick (MIA) and Rayshawn Jenkins (CLE).

If anything, the biggest moves made will likely be at wide receiver.

For anyone hoping for a big quarterback move, you’d essentially have to hope that Atlanta’s Kirk Cousins waives his no trade clause. Even then, with the way he’s been playing, can we even consider that a “big quarterback move” anymore?

Instead, look to the pass catchers. Top trade targets at WR include Calvin Ridley (TEN), DJ Moore (CHI), Jakobi Meyers (LV) and Rashid Shaheed (NO) among others. Those are the most likely, but we’d really be in for it if Chris Olave (NO), Jaylen Waddle (MIA), AJ Brown (PHI) or Brian Thomas Jr (JAX) somehow got moved.

FOR CINCINNATI: Wilson had seemingly been passed on the depth chart by Barrett Carter as well as Demetrius Knight. With Wilson spending plenty of time on the bench and earning an AAV of $9million a year, the Bengals can clear some cap space.

FOR DALLAS: The Cowboys have the second-worst total defense and scoring defense in the league. Adding one player will not help with that. However, Wilson does have two years remaining on his deal. Last season, he had 104 tackles in 11 games before an injury. The year prior, a fully healthy season, he totaled 135. Wilson could be a good pick up for the long-haul in Dallas – even if many fans want the team to consider a tank.

TRADE ALERT: Bengals LB Logan Wilson to Cowboys for 2026 Seventh-Round Pick

Just before 7:30am, as the sun was kissing the Atlantic coast, Jerry Jones confirmed a trade for his Cowboys.

Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson is off to Dallas in exchange for a seventh.
