Coronation Street’s David Platt unexpectedly lets slip to his loved ones about his baby’s poor health next week, before his wife Shona publicly storms out on him. In front of the family, David suddenly blurts out that the little girl Shona is carrying is desperately unwell and may not survive.
This week, David and Shona were told that their unborn child has a mass on her neck, and the consultant gave them the option of having a termination.

Nick, Toyah and Bethany are understandably shaken by the revelation next week, and the worried trio begin to bombard the couple with questions.
It’s an incredibly overwhelming situation and it soon all becomes too much for poor Shona, who rushes out of the Bistro to be on her own.
“Shona just wants to block it all out,” says our Corrie insider. “She doesn’t want to face the fact that their child is so poorly.

“It’s clear to see why David would want to tell his family about what he’s going through, but he should’ve really consulted Shona about it rather than dropping a bombshell like that. They’re in this together and need to communicate, for both of their sakes.”
Earlier in the week, David mentions to Shona that it might be time for them to explain the complication with the pregnancy to their inner circle. Shona is reluctant in her response, signalling that she’s just not ready to broach the topic yet.
“David does try to start a conversation about telling people,” reveals our source. “That’s what makes the situation at the Bistro even more sore for Shona.

“It’s something that they hadn’t agreed on but David went ahead anyway, causing more unnecessary stress.”
