Emmerdale spoilers follow.
Mary Goskirk has announced her exit plans on Emmerdale after Rhona unleashed a devastating outburst. Though she was unaware that her daughter was protecting her, will Mary follow through on her plan?
Mary returned to the Dales earlier this week after some time in Cornwall, meaning she is oblivious to the fact that Rhona and Marlon Dingle have attempted to wrestle April Windsor out from the clutches of Celia Daniels and Ray Walters.
Mary did, however, learn of Dylan Penders’s hit-and-run incident at the hands of Ray, and wondered why she hadn’t been informed by either her daughter or Marlon. As her curiosity grew, the pair knew that trouble could await them if Mary found out too much.
Tuesday’s (16 December) instalment of the ITV soap began with a stressed Marlon struggling to come to terms with the ominous situation, though Rhona attempted to calm him as she vowed to get the money they needed.
Mary, meanwhile, was on the receiving end of Ray’s charm offensive, though Rhona attempted to put a stop to it immediately. She urged her mother to stay away from him, though Mary remarked that she was acting strangely.

After Mary relayed to Laurel how much Ray seemed like a good egg, Rhona ran to Marlon and feared that her mother was now even more suspicious, and reasoned that they had to get her “away” before she knew too much.
Rhona spoke to her mother, and began by saying that the house was “too crowded” in a bid to have her leave, though Mary said that she “wasn’t buying” the version of events that Rhona was selling her.
After raising her voice, Mary asked Rhona one more time what exactly was going on, though Rhona reacted by calling her mother “completely overbearing” as the situation got out of control.

“We’ve put up with it for years and we are sick of it – sick of you. I just want you gone because we’re happier without you and that’s all there is to it,” a pained Rhona continued as she couldn’t face her mother.
Mary shared that she needed the evening to pack and get some things in place, but remarked that she would be leaving first thing in the morning – will Rhona and Marlon be able to salvage the situation?
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
