Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street has confirmed a surprising departure that will leave Carla Connor and Lisa Swain feeling deflated in the lead-up to their wedding next week. In the episode set to air this Sunday (19 April), making up for the lack of an episode yesterday, Ryan will show Carla around the hotel as they discuss wedding plans when she has to take a call.
While on the phone, her face drops. It’s the social worker, and they’ve got some bad news.
Back at No 6, Carla and Lisa start to pack up baby Connie‘s things. When Betsy asks what they’re doing, Carla explains that the social worker has told them Connie will be going to live with her grandmother.

It’s not going to be the only last-minute twist that threatens Carla and Lisa’s big day, although the couple manage to deal with their problems and prove why they work as a unit.
Carla actor Alison King recently spoke about how Connie being around has been great for her character, who has some tragic history when it comes to babies.
“It was important to bring that up when Connie came into their lives. Of course, Lisa had never heard about that. It was good for her to know and also see how Carla came to be like she is about certain things”, she said.

“I think Carla came on leaps and bounds through looking after that baby, she really enjoyed having her in their lives and we enjoyed having her around.”
“I think that showed a side of Carla that perhaps Lisa hadn’t really seen a great deal of, and if anything, it’s galvanised them, it’s made them stronger,” added Lisa actor Vicky Myers.
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX and YouTube.
