The BBC has shared some exciting news about the return of its Scottish sitcom Only Child along with some new cast additions.

Filming has begun on the series, which stars Rab C Nesbitt actor Gregor Fisher and Fresh Meat’s Greg McHugh as a squabbling father and son named Ken and Richard Pritchard.

Sharing the news in a press release, the BBC confirmed that filming for a second season of the sitcom is already under way in Scotland.

The six-part series, which was nominated for an RTS Scotland best comedy award, will reportedly be shooting on location in Glasgow, Paisley, Helensburgh and Dunlop.

Written by Bryce Hart, the second series “will see the chaotic Pritchard clan return for more adventures as Richard and Ken bicker through everything from driving lessons and explaining what a QR code is to buying your own coffin”.

Returning to the cast for a second season are Holby City star Amy Lennox, Fréwaka’s Clare Barrett, Outlander star Robin Laing, and Game of Thrones actor Paul Rattray.

Joining the cast for season two are Dept. Q actor Clive Russell, Jenny Galloway, comedian Kevin Bishop and Tam Dean Burn.

Louise Thornton, Head of Commissioning for BBC Scotland, said: “Only Child was a real hit with audiences who took Ken and Richard to their hearts. Bryce has written another script full of warmth and humour which will have the audience laughing and shedding the odd tear.

The show is produced by Happy Tramp North, whose executive producer Neil Webster said: “We’re all so excited to be back shooting a new series. Greg and Gregor are back as the first family of Forres, surrounded by all the cast and crew that made series one such a joy.”
