Emmerdale spoilers follow from Tuesday’s episode (11 August), which is available to watch now on ITVX and YouTube but hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet.

In tonight’s episode of Emmerdale, the police begin to investigate Dr Todd’s death – and it’s not looking good for Charity and Sarah as they both struggle under questioning.

Meanwhile, Billy and Dawn solidify their plans to flee together – but they’ll be relying heavily on support from scheming Caleb!

1. Charity and Sarah face the musiccharity dingle, sarah sugden, emmerdale

Police arrive at Charity’s home following the call alerting them to Dr Todd’s death. Charity and Sarah explain that they’re the only two people involved, sticking to their promise to keep Serena’s name entirely out of it.

Newcomer DS Ramsden takes control by arresting both Charity and Sarah on suspicion of murder. They try to protest, but Ramsden insists that she needs to thoroughly investigate the possibility of foul play.

2. Jacob receives a nasty shockjacob gallagher, emmerdale

Jacob returns home to the village just as the police turn up, and he’s horrified to see a body bag being wheeled out of Charity’s place.

He desperately seeks answers and Serena puts on her best poker face, pretending not to know anything about what’s going on. How will Jacob react when he later finds out that Dr Todd is dead?

3. The pressure is on for Charity and Sarahcharity dingle, emmerdale

While being questioned in separate interview rooms, it’s tough for Charity and Sarah to stick to their agreed story. They didn’t have much time to agree on the finer details and the detectives are suspicious as they point out the flaws in their statements.

Charity remains adamant that she caused Todd’s death but acted in self-defence. Sarah also gives this version of events, but when she contradicts herself, she’s asked to explain the inconsistencies in her story.

4. Billy and Dawn set some boundariesdawn taylor, billy fletcher, emmerdale

Billy and Dawn discuss their plan to flee from the village with the kids.

Billy makes it clear to Dawn that he’s not putting any pressure on her to reunite, as the priority is to get away from Joe. He suggests leaving together as friends and continuing a co-parenting arrangement once they’re gone. Is Billy closing the door on a romantic reunion with Dawn?

5. Billy’s real attacker is revealedruby miligan, caleb miligan, emmerdale

Ruby does some snooping on Caleb’s laptop and uncovers secret CCTV footage which shows that Billy’s mystery attacker was Kev, not Joe.

Caleb explains that he’s letting Dawn believe otherwise so that Joe loses her. Caleb’s plan is to get Billy and Dawn out of the country with new identities – what could possibly go wrong?

6. Things look up for Cain and Moiracain dingle, moira dingle, emmerdale

ITV

Cain and Moira are loved-up after getting the physical side of their relationship back on track. They also celebrate the latest progress in their plans for a ‘Dingle Farm’.

However, when news of Dr Todd’s death reaches them, they desperately try to get some answers out of Sarah. How honest will she be?
