Coronation Street is lining up a huge change involving Todd Grimshaw and Sarah Platt, with the pair set to meet again in next week’s scenes. Todd had previously said he wanted nothing to do with Sarah, but will he change his stance?
The duo’s friendship has been strained ever since it became apparent that Sarah was the one who killed Theo Silverton, Todd’s abusive partner. After Todd found out that his friend was guilty of murder, he cut ties with Sarah.

He has since holidayed in Thailand in a bid to take a break from it all, but he returns to the cobbles of Weatherfield on Monday (17 August). He is greeted by a request, with Sarah asking him to visit her in prison.
It seems that the holiday has eased Todd’s mind somewhat, with the figure telling Sarah that he would always consider a good friend despite what happened with Theo. Sarah, meanwhile, informs Todd that she broke up with Kit Green in order to protect his career.
That could all change for Sarah, however, as a situation arises in which she may need to contact her former partner. Kacey, her cellmate, learns that her son has been arrested for armed robbery, and threatens Sarah if she doesn’t ask Kit for help.
Sarah informs Todd about the developments, and he urges her to speak to Kit. He even offers to do it himself, though Sarah isn’t keen on the idea. Todd goes ahead with the plan regardless, and tells Kit that Sarah needs to speak to him.
While it remains to be seen how the storyline pans out, many viewers will be glad to see that Todd and Sarah have seemingly patched things up. It also came as a relief to Gareth Pierce, with the actor saying their bond was integral to the ITV soap.

“It’s such a dear relationship and so long-standing in the show,” he exclusively told Digital Spy. “We as actors and our audience would really mourn it, if it was entirely lost! It feels like such a lot to give up.”
“But equally, Todd’s best friend has just been implicated in the murder of Theo, so it’s high-stakes stuff and it’ll be interesting to see how they explore it,” added the actor, who debuted as Todd in 2020.
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
