A mother of seven who previously weighed 14 stone has shed two-and-a-half stone with the help of an app – and she’s now rediscovered her passion for clothes shopping. Sarah Glascoe, 43, from Manchester, attributes her remarkable weight loss journey to the Simple app and now feels ‘healthier inside and out’.
She explained: “To date, I’ve lost 36 lbs (2.5 stone) and dropped three dress sizes. I now love shopping for clothes again! Under my GP’s advice, I’ve reduced my blood pressure medication and stopped taking cholesterol tablets altogether.
“I’m sleeping better, feeling healthier inside and out, and happier than I’ve been in years.” Whilst Sarah acknowledged she still has one stone left to lose before hitting her target weight, she revealed she achieved her results using the Simple app after attempting ‘countless diets and fitness plans’.
Simple is marketed as ‘a clinically proven weight loss tool’ that has supported users in shedding over 18 million pounds collectively. Part of its appeal lies in the absence of restrictive dieting – users simply complete a questionnaire and Simple creates a tailored programme, reports the Mirror.
Additionally, Simple is currently offering new subscribers 80% off weight loss programmes using the code ‘REACH’. The app even includes an interactive companion named Blinky, described as a ‘furry friend’, which encourages users to maintain their motivation and holds them to account whilst monitoring their achievements.

Features include food logging capabilities through typing, voice recognition or photographs, an intermittent fasting monitor, a NutriScanner to assist users in understanding the nutritional content of their meals, plus daily exercise routines.
Alongside Blinky, there’s Avo – an AI-powered in-app coach and personal wellness companion, which responds to users’ queries and provides support throughout their journey. For Sarah, the weight “slowly crept on with each pregnancy” from the age of 18, eventually reaching 14 stone.

She explained that she’d attempted numerous other diet and fitness programmes, but “nothing ever worked long-term” – until she stumbled upon Simple whilst browsing on her mobile one evening. She recalled: “I discovered the Simple app and decided to give it a try – without expecting much.
“I began my journey on July 10, 2025, weighing 14 stone, and within the first week, I was amazed to see a 5lb loss and a noticeable boost in energy. As fasting became part of my everyday routine, I naturally started making healthier choices, and the weight kept coming off. Soon, I could walk farther without needing my asthma inhaler, and exercise began to feel easier and more enjoyable.”
After shedding two-and-a-half stone, Sarah revealed she feels “happier” than she has in years, and intends to keep fasting as part of her routine going forward. However, for those who find Simple isn’t the right fit, there are several other options available – including MyFitnessPal.
This is described as an “all-in-one food, exercise, and calorie tracker”, with the premium version currently priced at £19.99 per month. Alternatively, there’s Noom, which claims to utilise science and personalisation to support users in losing weight and “keeping it off for good”. The service provides various plan durations to suit individual goals, lifestyles, and budgets.

The Simple App has garnered enthusiastic feedback from its users. On Trustpilot, the app boasts an average score of 4.3 out of five stars, based on over 36,000 reviews, earning it an “Excellent” overall rating.
One reviewer commented: “I love that I just scan my meals and all of the calculations are done. The AI coach is so helpful without being intrusive. The exercises are short, so it’s something anyone can do. Weight is coming off slowly but it went on slowly too. I’d recommend this to anyone who wants to feel better.”
Another user shared: “I love the app, the coach guides you in your meals and the exercise. And it lets you decide what you want to eat, with food you like. The coach gives you recipes. I feel great.”
Other users shared their thoughts on the app, with one commenting: “I love the app for fasting. Not so much for tracking food.”
Another reviewer noted: “I like the tracking but the program could work more smoothly or (be more) user friendly for us seniors. I also like talking to a bot instead of a person because I don’t worry about personal judgement.”
On the whole, though, most users expressed satisfaction, with one stating: “First app out of hundreds I’ve downloaded and paid for that I’ve actually used and two weeks later consistently using it and losing weight daily. I’m really happy.”
