Many people relish a good walk, particularly when the weather is pleasant, and there are several destinations in Ireland that make for fantastic exploration. Recently, however, a specific location has taken the internet by storm, with visitors singing the praises of its breath-taking natural scenery.
This viral walking destination, situated not far from Dublin, has been declared utterly stunning, with its beauty so striking that people have likened it to “stepping into a fairy tale”. If you’re keen to get some fresh air while soaking up the natural splendour Ireland has to offer, this spot is absolutely worth a visit this summer.
It’s far from the only gorgeous walking trail worth venturing out to, mind you. There are also additional areas in Ireland that are well worth discovering during the sunnier months.
Casey Mac, who goes by Casey Mac Photo on social media, recently brought the location to people’s attention. Alongside footage of the area, he simply wrote: “This place feels like slipping into a fairy tale world. A must-do for your Ireland trip!”
Within the clip, he went on to suggest it could even be considered Ireland’s “most peaceful” hike, given how wonderfully tranquil it is. It’s also easy to understand his fairy tale comparison, as the surroundings closely resemble the enchanted woodlands frequently depicted on the big screen.
The trail is remarkably serene, strikingly beautiful and exudes an almost magical quality. Casey appears to have unearthed a true hidden gem.
At the conclusion of the clip, he discloses the spot in question is Ballinastoe Woods, situated roughly an hour’s journey from Dublin city centre. Should you desire an excursion somewhere distinctive, it could well be worth exploring.

Where is it?
For those unfamiliar with it, Ballinastoe Woods lies in County Wicklow, close to Roundwood and the Sally Gap within the Wicklow Mountains. It’s particularly renowned for its “boardwalk” trail, while the woodland overlooks Lough Tay and provides a picturesque, tree-lined ramble.
Access is via the Ballinastoe Forest/Pier Gates car park on the R759 road. It’s approximately an hour’s drive from Dublin, making it reasonably accessible if you’re seeking an alternative walking location to discover.
The primary draw is the “Ballinastoe Boardwalk” (or “Wizard Way”), which requires approximately 10 to 20 minutes to access from the upper car park. Visitors planning a trip have recently been informed that certain areas of the woodland might be shut owing to storm damage.
