A man serenaded a group of Meerkats at a sanctuary, and their response to his music is absolutely precious.
In a video posted to TikTok, Plumes, the viral animal singer, visited a local meerkat sanctuary and sang to them. In the video, the singer performed an acoustic version of One Direction’s “Moments” as a pair of tiny, curious meerkats came out to investigate.
They both trotted towards Plumes and didn’t seem to be afraid when they began to climb all over his legs. One even got close enough to investigate his guitar before he found a comfortable spot on the ground to sleep with his other fellow meerkat friends. Even Plumes was in disbelief by the tender moment and couldn’t believe they felt so comfortable that “they started falling asleep.”
People online loved the tender moment between the singer and the meerkats, with users commenting, “So very Sweet. What a beautiful gift you give to the animals.”
“Your voice is so soothing, so I don’t blame them for getting sleepy 🥰,” one person wrote, while another said, “they feel so safe with you 🥰.”
Others loved the way the Meerkats fell asleep on their backs, with another commenter pointing out, “leaving their belly exposed like that [means] they were totally relaxed 😭.”
“Meerkats are notoriously alert when it comes to potential predators,” one user pointed out in the comments. “So you know they found his presence very soothing.”

All about Meerkats and their unusual sleeping habits
Meerkats are known for their ability to stand upright and look alert at all times, but when it’s time to sleep, they have a more unusual routine.
According to TreeHugger, Meerkats are known to sleep together underground in a separate sleeping chamber. They typically live in groups called “mobs or gangs,” which can include up to 40 Meerkats. They spend most of their time living underground and build a network of chambers in their homes for specific needs, like sleeping.
“When meerkats lie down to rest, they do so in heaps, piled on top of each other for warmth,” they explained. “The matriarch is typically buried deepest in the group, so she gets the best sleep possible.”
Since they need to stay alert at all times in the wild, Meerkats won’t achieve a deep REM sleep, the way humans do, meaning they’re unlikely to dream. But in the warmer months, they may spread out more and sleep above ground to stay cool and sleep better.
