As we head into ski season, visions of cozy cabin moments and snowy winter escapes begin to become realities—and curating a stylish après ski wardrobe to complement your gear only makes sense. The romantic notion of vintage ski style is what inspired Sea NY’s co-founder Monica Paolini to approach Shopbop with the idea for a winter capsule collection.

“We started thinking about what happens after the slopes—the slower, more intimate moments of retreat: gathering fireside, layering up, unwinding,” Paolini tells Vogue. “I grew up skiing with my Dad, and while I don’t get to go as often anymore, it’s something that still holds such a special place for me—the ritual of getting ready, the quiet of the mountains, and the feeling of coming together afterward.” Exploring concepts rooted in comfort, warmth, and nostalgia, the exclusive capsule collection for Shopbop took form.

“Our shoppers are always looking for fun pieces with novel flair, and they love shopping from Sea NY, so a collaboration between the two of us just made perfect sense,” says Caroline Maguire, senior fashion director at Shopbop. By reinterpreting a few of Sea NY’s signature styles, while incorporating brand constants, such as quilting, embroidery, and soft layers into the mix—the result is a range of knitted separates, outerwear, cold-weather accessories, and even a very special handbag collaboration with Parisian-based design duo, Brigitte Tanaka.

“The idea of après ski felt like such a natural extension of the Sea world—where craft, comfort, and a touch of nostalgia are at the heart of what we do,” says Paolini. “I’m always drawn to vintage—especially old sweaters and folk-inspired patterns. There’s something comforting about those familiar motifs; they carry stories and a sense of time that feels really human.” Finding inspiration in vintage ski knits and traditional embroidery, standouts include a puffer jacket with lace detailing, embroidery-trimmed cardigans, and even a balaclava hood, amongst the stylish offerings.

“I really love the Olympia knit set—it captures that balance of comfort and nostalgia we were aiming for, but still feels refined and put together,” Paolini says, which also happens to be a favorite for Maguire, too. “The Olympia knit top and matching pants are to die for,” Maguire adds. “It’s the perfect set for lounging around in, preferably with a cup of hot cocoa within reach.” Maguire’s other highlights include the Alena jumpsuit and Antonia fair-isle jacket, a “must-have for on-and-off-the-slopes fun,” which she plans to mix and match throughout her own wardrobe this season. “Throwing on a sweater with my favorite jeans and Wallabee boots; pairing the tops with a fun skirt and tights; pulling on the matching PJ sets for nights in with the kiddos… the possibilities are endless,” she says.
