Captivated, the mystery thriller starring Kara Tointon and Allen Leech, has landed a new streaming home in the UK. With a twisty plot and a short runtime, this could be a binge-watch worth your time!
The four-part series sees Tointon portray Rachel, a single mother who is trying to make ends meat as a cleaner. She meets the mysterious Elliot (Leech) and is offered a more lucrative job, but is everything as it appears?
Originally released on 5 last year under the title of Too Good to Be True, the series is now available to stream in the UK on Netflix, with all four instalments being added to the streamer this morning.
In addition to Tointon and Leech, the latter of whom played Tom Branson in Downton Abbey, the cast for the series includes Silent Witness star Sara Powell, Line of Duty’s Taj Atwal and Coronation Street actor John Thomson.
Though not widely reviewed by professional critics, Captivated does have a score on IMDb, though its average user rating of 5.6 out of 10 – from 1100 logs – is fairly middling in the grand scheme of things.

“I must say I was captivated by this series. Even though it has some weak points in my opinion, it was the interplay between the mother, her son, and her best friend, that I found endearing,” wrote one user, who said it had “sufficient twists”.
“It’s well acted, builds the tension well… It’s a solid drama that deserves a watch and at 4 episodes, an easy binge that isn’t overly drawn out. I’m surprised at some of the poor ratings here,” added a second viewer.

“I really enjoyed this. The pace was good, well cast and kept me enthralled… t was easy to follow and get to grips with. Plus I loved the casting of the main characters, really good, not wooden,” opined a third viewer.
One user was less enthusiastic, however, noting: “This series is a strange one . It’s fairly predictable and throughout you feel that the tension and intrigue could and should have been ramped up a few notches to make better use of the lead characters abilities.”
Captivated is streaming now on Netflix and 5.
