A North East personal trainer specialising in women’s health after pregnancy has doubled the size of her studio. Rose Shannon, founder of Train with Rose (TWR), started out as a mobile trainer visiting new mums at home.
The 31-year-old now runs a ‘thriving’ studio on Quayside Road in Stockton, which she has expanded to welcome more members. It will increase class capacity and add specialist equipment designed to support female bodies at every life stage.
Teesside Live reports how Rose’s work stems from personal experience. As a young mum navigating mental-health challenges and postpartum recovery, she found exercise life-changing.
But she also realised how isolating the fitness industry can feel for women whose bodies have changed. She says that inspired her to create a welcoming, evidence-based alternative.
The mum-of-one said: “I see women in their 30s, 40s, even 60s still living with issues from childbirth because no one ever told them recovery was possible. It’s not about ‘bouncing back’ — it’s about rebuilding strength, confidence and connection from the inside out.”

Rose says her training programmes combine strength and mobility training with deep-core rehabilitation and nutritional coaching. Sessions are tailored for pregnancy and postpartum needs including support for conditions such as diastasis recti and pelvic floor dysfunction.
She said: “Our goal is to give women the support I wished I’d had as a young mum. This expansion means we can welcome more women into a safe, inclusive space where their unique needs are understood, respected and properly addressed.”
Mum Cat Cockerill, who is one of Rose’s clients, said: “After giving birth, I didn’t feel like myself. Rose tailored a plan that rebuilt my strength and confidence. It wasn’t just training; it was a lifeline back to myself.”
Rose’s community-driven approach means clients often become friends, meeting for walks or drinks outside the gym. She said: “Your fitness should add to your life, not restrict it.
“Women deserve support that strengthens their bodies, minds and communities — and that’s exactly what we’re building here on Teesside.”
Rose has a first-class BSc (Hons) in Applied Sport and Exercise Science, a foundation degree in personal training and is a Pregnancy and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist (PCES). She has trained in mental-health support and first aid and is completing an advanced Pelvis Pro course to deepen her postpartum expertise.
