The global boxing community is in mourning following the tragic death of Kevin Latif Ayodele Latz, the esteemed personal trainer and close confidant of former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua. Latz, 38, died in a road accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Nigeria on Monday, December 29, 2025. He was a resident of London, UK.
Latz, known professionally and to his social media followers as “Healthy_Mindset,” was far more than a fitness expert; he was a foundational pillar of discipline, loyalty, and positive energy in the high-stakes world of elite boxing. He tragically perished alongside renowned rehab specialist Sina Ghami, while Anthony Joshua and other members of the team survived the collision with minor injuries.
The accident occurred while the tight-knit “Team AJ” was traveling in Nigeria for a post-fight holiday, following Joshua’s dominant sixth-round knockout victory over Jake Paul just two weeks ago. Latz had been an integral part of that camp, as he was for many of Joshua’s pivotal fights, serving as the physical trainer who kept the heavyweight’s engine primed.
While specialists like Sina Ghami focused on clinical rehabilitation, Latz was the constant force in the gym, a friend who pushed with respect and understood the champion’s mind as well as his body. His role extended beyond Joshua; his expertise was sought by other elite fighters, including multi-weight world champion Badou Jack, cementing his reputation as a trusted figure in the sport.
To over 11,000 followers on Instagram, @Healthy_Mindset was not merely a username but a philosophy. Latz built a community by authentically promoting a lifestyle built on discipline, rigorous physical training, and mental resilience. He lived the creed he preached, becoming a source of inspiration for aspiring athletes and fitness enthusiasts worldwide.
The outpouring of tributes from across the boxing world—from rivals to champions—speaks to the profound respect and affection he commanded. He is remembered not just for his professional dedication, but for his vibrant presence, unwavering loyalty, and the positive mindset he infused into every room and every training session.
Kevin Latif Ayodele Latz leaves behind a legacy of strength, friendship, and authentic wellness. He was a devoted son, a loyal friend, and a professional who stood as a pillar in the corner of a champion. He will be deeply missed by his family, his extended “Team AJ” family, and the countless lives he touched through his work and his words.
