Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street’s Debbie Webster heads to court next week after being charged over the Corriedale crash. But after conflicting advice from the people around her, will she plead guilty?

The popular character has just been charged with dangerous driving and driving under the influence of excess alcohol, although viewers know that Debbie’s brother Carl was the one behind the wheel when disaster struck.

Prior to next week’s hearing, frightened Ronnie Bailey confides in his nephew Michael that he’s terrified of losing his wife and worries that she’ll ignore his advice to plead not guilty.

However, when a barrage of visitors calls at the flat to offer Debbie their counsel, she gets upset…

“First, Kevin arrives to try to get Debbie to change her mind about her guilty plea, and Ronnie is forced to kick him out,” our Corrie source reveals.

“Then, evil Carl comes round and piles the pressure on Debbie to plead guilty.

“After that, Bernie also turns up and points out that Billy wouldn’t want Debbie to plead guilty, as he’d understand that his death was an accident. Carl panics that his pleas won’t be enough to send Debbie down for his crime.”

Carl’s manipulations may not work on Debbie this time, though. At the hotel, Ryan Connor tells Debbie that he’s examined the business accounts – and has discovered that Carl has been stealing cash from her for months.

“Ryan’s been suspicious of Carl for weeks, but now he finally has the proof that something dodgy has been going on under Debbie’s nose,” our spy continues.

“After he informs Debbie, she confronts her brother about the allegations – but will slippery Carl manage to worm his way out of them?”

After the hearing, Ronnie heads to the café, where his agony is evident when he hears Mary Taylor and Asha Alahan discussing the car crash.

Sheepishly apologising for Debbie’s actions, he flees Roy’s Rolls – but later, Summer Spellman goes on the warpath when she sees him and Debbie sharing a laugh on the Street.

“As the ambulance arrives to deliver poor Billy’s body to the undertakers, Summer breaks down in devastation in Todd’s arms,” our insider adds.

“However, as she cries, she spots Debbie and Ronnie looking jolly and is absolutely fuming. Summer can’t believe that Debbie has the cheek to joke after seemingly being responsible for her adoptive dad’s death, and she sees red…”

But will Summer unleash the full wrath of her grief at innocent Debbie? And could Debbie be facing a long stint in prison for a crime that she didn’t even commit?

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
