The Traitors spoilers follow.
As TV’s biggest game of treachery and deceit, twists and turns are part of the package when it comes to The Traitors. Not every reveal can be game-changing, however, and it seems one of the latest ones fell flat.
Earlier in the fourth season, it was revealed that Judy Wilson was the adoptive mother of Roxy, while it was later confirmed that Ross Garshong and Ellie Buckley were in a romantic relationship. Furthermore, Ross also knew Netty Österberg through a mutual friend.
Typically, these links weren’t revealed to the other players until their appearance on spin-off series Uncloaked following their exit, but there was an exception during Thursday’s (22 January) episode.
After Roxy didn’t return to the breakfast room following her murder by Traitors Stephen Libby and Rachel Duffy, host Claudia Winkleman shared with the remaining players that Roxy was Judy’s adoptive daughter, with the group being surprised.
Following the various reveals earlier in the season, some viewers speculated that the entire cast may be connected in some way, but so far only these three connections have come to light.

While the cast were shocked by Claudia’s revelation, several viewers have lamented the lack of impact that the connections have made on the game, with one writing on X: “These reveals are extraordinarily anticlimactic at this point. It needed to be either loads, or one.”
“The whole family connection thing was wildly disappointing given it was only two connections,” wrote another fan, while a third noted: “This family connections ‘twist’ is so rubbish lmao, literally could not care less and it had absolutely no effect on the game whatsoever.”
Another fan had a different theory, remarking that it took some of the players a while to remember Judy given she was the second star to be eliminated, writing: “They paused slightly like thinking who was Judy again.”

“Fully love The Traitors but have no idea what the secret relationships bring to the game,” wrote another disappointed viewer, while a sixth said: “Needs to bet the last time any of that happens in a series. Contributes nothing whatsoever.”
Roxy’s exit, meanwhile, came just as the finish line was in sight, with the finale taking place tonight. Stephen and Rachel are still there on the Traitors’ side, while the remaining Faithfuls are James Baker, Jack Butler, Faraaz Noor and Jade Scott.
The Traitors airs on BBC One and streams on BBC iPlayer.
