House of the Dragon has teased its third season with an explosive trailer, giving fans a look at James Norton’s previously announced character, Lord Ormund Hightower.

The new footage for the Game of Thrones prequel has offered a first look at the Dance of the Dragons, the huge inter-Targaryen battle that was planned for season 2 and had to be pushed back to the upcoming instalment.

The clip opens with Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma d’Arcy) as she expects Alicent Hightower’s (Olivia Cooke) surrender. However, Rhaenyra’s son, Jacaerys (Harry Collett), warns his mother that the queen is not to be trusted as Daemon (Matt Smith) watches on.

For his part, Alicent’s son, Prince Aemond (Ewan Mitchell), isn’t too happy with whatever truce his mum is considering. Confronted by her son, Alicent issues an ominous warning about what lies ahead for them should Rhaenyra send her new dragon their way.

“It will be the end,” she proclaims.

The Greens may be struggling, but the Blacks aren’t faring too well either. As Daemon tells Rhaenyra: “This is the moment you become queen.” The tears streaming down her face tells another story as her victory may come at a great cost.

Norton briefly appeared in the new clip as Ormund, Otto Hightower’s nephew and Alicent’s cousin. In a full armour, the character leads his army as the voiceover teases “a new line of unsullied kings”.

House of the Dragon is debuting new episodes in June, though an exact release date hasn’t been announced yet.
