Coronation Street spoilers follow from Thursday’s episode (26 February), which is available to watch now on ITVX and YouTube but hasn’t yet aired on ITV1.

Coronation Street confirms Bethany Platt as Jodie Ramsey’s nemesis tonight – as she casts doubt on the newcomer’s sly attempts to play the hero. Can Bethany raise the alarm before Jodie causes some real damage?

Thursday’s episode continues the saga of Shona Platt’s missing wedding ring, which was eyed up by Jodie at Audrey’s salon yesterday. After secretly stealing the precious item, Jodie is now ready to make a show of miraculously “finding” it.

David is intrigued when he arrives home to find Jodie rooting down the back of the armchair. She claims that she can feel the ring, but needs his help to retrieve it for Shona.

Of course, this gives her the perfect opportunity to get up close and personal with David – and she’s enjoying every minute.

Later, Jodie and David arrive at The Rovers to share the great news that Jodie found Shona’s lost ring down the side of the chair.

Everyone is delighted by the news – apart from Bethany, who sees it as far too convenient.

In a private chat with Maria Connor at the bar, Bethany insists that “the jury’s out” when it comes to whether Jodie can be trusted.

Elaborating further over flaws in Jodie’s story, she adds: “Shona was certain she lost that ring in the salon. She was absolutely convinced.”

Maria suggests that Shona simply has a lot on her mind at the moment and got mixed up, but Bethany hints that there could be another explanation. Has she already uncovered Jodie’s true motives? It seems that their dynamic is one to watch in the weeks ahead…

“Jodie is a really interesting character. She’s a bit of a troublemaker. She’s got a bit of mischief in her eyes,” Coronation Street’s producer Kate Brooks recently told us.

“All is not what it seems with Jodie. There are a lot of layers to her and the audience are going to have a lot of fun unpeeling those. We’ll be unravelling who Jodie is as a character and what she wants.”

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
