Coronation Street’s Julia Goulding has opened up on Shona Platt’s reaction to catching sister Jodie Ramsey in a huge lie. Since arriving in the explosive Corriedale episode this year, Jodie has exhibited strange behaviour that has cast doubt on her motives towards Shona, her husband David, and their newborn daughter Harper.
In scenes airing next week, Jodie’s behaviour is set to escalate when she claims that Harper is her daughter, not Shona’s, as the youngster is prepped for a major operation.
Shona overhears the lie, which actor Julia Goulding says “raises a red flag”, but ultimately something she simply brushes off, given the enormity of the worries she is already facing.
“It definitely raises a red flag, but Jodie is a very skilled manipulator and a quick liar,” she explained.
“Shona is so emotionally on her knees that she simply doesn’t have the capacity to take on any more drama. She just brushes it off because she’s too exhausted to fight it.

Explaining why she lets the behaviour slide, Julia continued: “Oh, she’s fuming initially! She’s like, ‘What are you playing at?’ But Jodie is so good at talking her way out of things that Shona ends up believing her.
“It’s hard to get into that headspace sometimes because it feels so risky, but Shona just wants to trust her sister.”
Explaining how she would like to see Shona react if Jodie’s deception was fully exposed, she said: “I’d love to see Shona kick off and bring back that ‘Bad Shona’ energy!

“She’s been made a lot softer on the street lately. I want to see the hard Shona return – the one people should actually fear!”
With Jodie carrying out a sick scheme to take over Shona’s life, it could well be that Julia gets her wish.
