Alien: Earth finally brought the franchise, famously set in space where no-one can hear you scream, to our TV screens last year, introducing a whole host of creepy creatures while dealing with plenty of existential angst, as a group of children are placed into adult synthetic bodies.

Season 1 ended with the kids taking over the Prodigy Corporation’s island facility, locking company founder and mad scientist Boy Kavalier in a cage, and commanding a Xenomorph as a pet.

The Eye remains on the loose and the Weyland-Yutani Corporation still want “their” Xenomorph, so it’s a good thing a season 2 has been greenlit.

Not only that, it’s now been confirmed by Wendy/Marcy actor Sydney Chandler that production is set to begin quite soon.

Chandler told Deadline that filming will commence in May, but she hasn’t seen any of the scripts just yet.

Production for this season will take place in London’s Pinewood Studios, as opposed to the first season which was shot in Thailand. Does that mean that the show will be leaving Kavalier’s island behind?

We don’t know much about the plot of season 2 currently, but that doesn’t mean we’re not excited, as we at Digital Spy were huge fans of season 1.

In our five-star review, we stated that not only does Alien: Earth contain the “spine-tingling horror” you know and love from the franchise, but it actually “reaches new levels of gruesomeness that will surprise even the most hardcore Alien loyalist”.

We’re not the only ones who loved it, as the show has a staggeringly good 94% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Alien: Earth season 1 is available to stream on Disney+ now. Season 2 will begin filming in May, with no release window announced at the time.
